Abstrakt: We propose an integrated comprehensive system of an Autonomous Surface Vessel (ASV), dedicated to ships with various degrees of autonomy. The system performs a variety of tasks aimed at safe voyage execution. The use of basic and additional information sources is envisaged, including data from unmanned remotely controlled and autonomous aerial vehicles, to increase situational awareness. After defining the assumptions and devising the architecture of the system, we built its model. The key elements of the model, collision avoidance and automatic communication modules, are capable of developing and agreeing on manoeuvres between autonomous vessels in the negotiation process. The model was implemented as a real time system and verified in three stages: laboratory tests, quasi-real tests using physical models of ships and in real operational conditions on board ships at sea. The research results have confirmed the correctness of the assumptions, designed system architecture and developed algorithms.

Abstrakt: Camping, agrotourism and caravaning undergoing a renaissance in the COVID era. What connects these forms of recreation is the possibility of isolating families or groups, who arrived together from other families or groups of people. The choice of the form of recreation depends on many factors, including financial possibilities and individual preferences. Living in a tent is more popular among young people. Usually, together with the age, tourists’requirements increasing. To meet those requirements the concept of glamping was developed in the 21st century. As a new concept is not very popular, however, COVID era will definitely accelerate its development. In the so called “new” reality the tourism industry need to be even more ingenious in order to regain interest in the traditional tourist services that have been offered, but also to look more and more at different and innovative leisure options. Glamping is considered as one of such options. The report examines the nature and benefits of glamping for tourists through the prism of new and ongoing anti-epidemic restrictions around the world. Several examples of such services offered in Poland and Bulgaria are considered. There is also an analysis made on the opinion of entrepreneurs on the future development of these services.

Słowa kluczowe: senior entrepreneurship, demographical processes, specific characteristics

Abstrakt: Seniors have become more and more active in entrepreneurial areas in recent years. In recent years, entrepreneurship through retired people has become increasingly popular. This focus of attention is mainly due to demographic changes and the consequent increasing importance of policies related to this part of the population. Both Europe and the United States, along with most developed countries, face the problem of an ageing population, which is putting increasing pressure on social security funds and pension funds. Involving the elderly in the entrepreneurial process is considered by many scientists to be one of the possible solutions to this issue. In order to create policies and programs that facilitate the transition of these people to entrepreneurial activity, an in-depth study of this area is needed. Senior entrepreneurship in post-communist European countries is significantly lower than in Western economies. This difference can be caused by different factors, including historical factors and different attitudes towards entrepreneurship. The article is focused on the contemporary dimensions of senior entrepreneurship and its specific characteristics.

Abstrakt: A single anti-collision trajectory generation problem for an “own” vessel only is significantly different from the challenge of generating a whole set of safe trajectories for multi-surface vehicle encounter situations in the open sea. Effective solutions for such problems are needed these days, as we are entering the era of autonomous ships. The article specifies the problem of anti-collision trajectory planning in many-to-many encounter situations. The proposed original multi-surface vehicle beam search algorithm (MBSA), based on the beam search strategy, solves the problem. The general idea of the MBSA involves the application of a solution for one-to-many encounter situations (using the beam search algorithm, BSA), which was tested on real automated radar plotting aid (ARPA) and automatic identification system (AIS) data. The test results for the MBSA were from simulated data, which are discussed in the final part. The article specifies the problem of anti-collision trajectory planning in many-to-many encounter situations involving moving autonomous surface vehicles, excluding Collision Regulations (COLREGs) and vehicle dynamics.

Słowa kluczowe: anti-collision trajectories, navigational decision support system, autonomous ship, beam search algorithm (BSA)

Abstrakt: The biggest challenges in the maritime environment are accidents and excessive fuel consumption. In order to improve the safety of navigation at sea and to reduce fuel consumption, the strategy of anti-collision, shortest trajectory planning is proposed. The strategy described in this paper is based on the beam search method. The beam search algorithm (BSA) takes into account many safe trajectories for the present ship and chooses the best in terms of length and other criteria. The risk of collision of present ship with any target ships is detected when the closest point of approach (CPA) of the present ship is violated by the target ship’s planned trajectory. Only course alteration of the present ship is applied, and not speed alteration. The algorithm has been implemented in the decision support system NAVDEC and tested in a real navigation environment on the m/f Wolin, a Polish ferry. Almost all BSA trajectories calculated were shorter in comparison to the standard NAVDEC-calculated algorithm.

Słowa kluczowe: Decision support system, situational awareness, crowdsourcing, navigation

Abstrakt: This paper describes the proof-of-concept demonstrator implemented as part of the project Enhanced Situational Awareness to Improve Maritime Safety in the Baltic (BONUS ESABALT). The demonstrator represents the system as used in different classes of vessels including leisure craft (small boats), larger ships, and authority vessels. Various validation scenarios are implemented to demonstrate the system functionality, for example application of ESABALT to aid in recovery operations after an oil spill, rerouting in the presence of significant sea-ice, aiding vessel navigation in case of a GNSS interference event, and situations where multiple ships are in distress. The demonstrator is implemented on a laptop computer and using the FURUNO FFSC-200 software environment, FURUNO Finland FICE-100 ice radar and FOIL-200 oil radar, live ship data from AIS receivers, dashboard camera, and the FURUNO Navisimu simulator environment. The simulated data include AIS tracks, radar echo and tracks, and small boat tracks. The paper also describes the implementation challenges, quality of service factors, and results of the economic and non-economic viability analysis of the proposed ESABALT system for potential full-implementation in the future. This study shows that the system would be cost-effective and the benefits to international cooperation, maritime safety, and environmental monitoring would outweigh the management costs necessary to sustain it.

Abstrakt: The paper presents a concept of the new algorithm solving Last Moment Manoeuvre problem. Last Moment Manoueuvre means that action taken only by one vessel is not enough to avoid collision. This is why both vessels have to synchronize their manoeuvres to pass each other. The main focus of the proposed solution is concentrated on the procedure defining the best possible manoeuvre for each vessel when avoiding a collision is no longer possible. For simplification, the assumption that the parameters of the vessels involved in the Last Moment Manoeuvre meet Standards for Ships Manoeuvrability set out in the IMO resolution, will be adopted. The algorithm presented in the paper will be implemented and tested in the commercial system.

Abstrakt: he known navigational systems in use perform information functions and as such are helpful in the process of safe conduct of a vessel. One of the ways to assist in reducing the number of marine accidents is the development of systems which perform decision support functions, i.e. automatically generate solutions to collision situations. The use of information (and communication) technologies including knowledge engineering allows the generation of proposals for anti-collision manoeuvres taking into account the COLREGs. Demand for further enhancement of navigational safety by limiting human errors has initiated a trend to convert navigational information systems into decision support systems. The implementation of decision support systems will potentially reduce the number of human errors, which translates into a reduction of accidents at sea and their adverse consequences. This paper presents a summary of the research to date on the navigational decision support system NAVDEC. The system has been positively verified in laboratory conditions and in field tests – on a motor ferry and a sailing ship. Challenges associated with the development and implementation of such systems are outlined.
